Jamshedpur, Jan 29: In a major relief for NEET UG 2025 aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has removed the requirement of an Apaar ID for registration. Students, who had been struggling for over a month to update their Aadhaar and generate an Apaar ID, can now breathe easy.
A recent NTA notification clarified that medical candidates can register for NEET UG 2025 using other available identification options. Earlier, the agency had mandated Aadhaar updates and Apaar ID integration, leading to a rush at Aadhaar centres. “There were long queues and students were panicking about whether they would be able to register in time,” said a local coaching institute director.
Apaar, previously known as the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID), is a digital record system for students’ academic credits. However, its mandatory implementation for NEET UG registration faced criticism due to the logistical challenges students encountered.
With this latest decision, students can now register smoothly without worrying about Aadhaar updates or Apaar ID creation.
