Need for technology enabled people on the rise in India: O.P. Bhatt

Jamshedpur, March 2: Tata Steel on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art workshop at Tata Steel Technical Institute (TSTI), Burmamines.

O.P. Bhatt, Member, Board of Directors, Tata Steel, inaugurated the workshop that houses latest high-end machines, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. For training purpose, the newly built workshop can easily accommodate 50 students at a time.

In his address to faculty and students of industrial trades, O.P. Bhatt said, �It was a wonderful experience to be here.

The quality of training imparted here makes the institute a place of excellence. He further said that �Technology is getting embedded in everything. The need for technology enabled people is on the rise in India�

Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel; Biren Bhuta, Chief, CSR, Tata Steel, Ms Bachendari Pal, Chief, Adventure Programme, Tata Steel, TSAF’s Premlata Agarwal, Capt. Amitabh, Head, Skill Development, CSR, Tata Steel; Mr. Debashis Chatterjee, Sr. Manager, Skill Development, CSR, Tata Steel were also present on the occasion.

The workshop will go a long way in fulfilling career and training-related aspirations of the students enrolled in the institute.

TSTI, Burmamines offers a 3-year, full-time diploma course in two branches Mechatronics and Electrical & Electronics. A total of 267 students are undergoing training in both the trades.

Upgrading technical skills of youth to make them self-reliant and employable has been one of the major social interventions of Tata Steel. With this approach only, TSTI, Burmamines was established in 2014.

Other technical education institutes that are backed by Tata Steel include R.D. Tata Technical Education Centre (RDTTEC), Jamshedpur; Industrial Training Centre (ITI), Tamar; and J.N. Tata Technical Education Centre (JNTTEC), Gopalpur, Odisha.
