Jamshedpur, Sept. 4: Tata Main Hospital (TMH) has been a boon to Jamshedpur since its inception in 1908, a year after Tata Steel was born. A 981-bed hospital in the heart of the city has been equipped with several modern facilities catering to patients from Jharkhand, Bengal, Odisha including employees of Tata Steel.

Over the years safety of doctors specially at TMH has been a major cause of concern as relatives of patients turn hostile in the event of the death of their loved ones in the course of treatment. This is in spite of the best efforts of highly skilled medics and medical reinforcements.

The hospital has gone through major advancement over the years and to inform about the same, Tata Steel organised a Media Round Table with top leadership of TMH at Centre For Excellence on Wednesday.

Dr. Rajan Chaudhry General Manager, Medical Services, TMH said, TMH along with nine clinics located across Jamshedpur provide primary level healthcare to thousands of patients every day. TMH’s OPD alone handles around 16 lakh patients every year and is one the biggest hospitals in the country.

“TMH admits about 60,000 patients every year and there is a lot of pressure on the hospital and the need is for more medical institutions to come up in and around the city to improve the healthcare scenario in the region, Dr Chaudhry opined.

“Being the umbrella hospital of the region there is an added burden on TMH and with Tata Main Hospital (TMH) Golmuri inaugurated under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) the 30-bed hospital will provide some breathing space here (TMH) to the curative responsibility,” added Dr Chaudhry.

He informed that TMH is parallel to any good hospital in the country as the entire institution is air conditioned with best doctors in the country including super specialty medics.

Earlier, Dr Sanjay Nag gave a presentation on the new added facilities at TMH. He said a three-storied fully air conditioned waiting hall has come up near CCU for the waiting relatives. With technology we have upgraded the facility and after 2015 all TMH Clinics have also been improved.

Dr Nag informed about the TMH Prime and other facilities added including that for the elderly patients. Also present at the interaction session were Dr KP Dubey, Chief of Medical Indoor Services, Medical Services at TMH, Ritu Raj Sinha, Chief Corporate Administration, Tata Steel and officials from Tata Steel’s Corporate Communications.
