‘NCLAT judgement on land dispute between 2 private parties is unrelated to Tata Steel’

Jamshedpur, Jan 10: Tata Steel on Thursday declined any relation in the NCLAT judgement on a dispute over sub-leased land at Kamani Center in Bistupur .

Reacting to a story published in The Avenue Mail with the title ‘NCLAT declares Tata Steel’s 10,444 sub-leases in Jamshedpur illegal,’ the company’s chief of corporate communications, Sarvesh Kumar said that the case pertains solely to a dispute between two private parties regarding a sale agreement and an associated claim of title rights.

“Tata Steel is not a party to this case” he said, in a press note, adding that the news paper’s report incorrectly suggests that Tata Steel’s sub-leases in Jamshedpur have been declared illegal.

Kumar added, “The said order neither addresses Tata Steel’s sub-leases nor involves any actions by the Company concerning leasehold lands in the city.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, Tata Steel is committed to complying with all applicable laws,” he stressed.
