Jamshedpur/Chakradharpur: The Chakradharpur (CKP) Division of South Eastern Railway set a new benchmark with its performance in the 2025-26 financial year. The division achieved its best-ever results across nearly all sectors, including freight, passenger revenue, safety, and infrastructure development.
Freight Loading and Revenue
Chakradharpur Division recorded a historic loading of 154.97 million tonnes, surpassing the 154.07 million tonnes achieved in FY 2024-25.

Revenue: This achievement generated an income of ₹13,098.85 crore.

Monthly Peak: March 2026 saw the highest-ever monthly loading of 15.82 million tonnes, up from 14.61 million tonnes in March 2025.

Total Handling: The division handled a total of 229.9 million tonnes of cargo (154.97 MT loading and 74.94 MT unloading).
To bolster freight operations, the division operationalized a 98-kilometer automated section and commissioned two Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminals. Additionally, loading time decreased by 7.4% and unloading time by 13.17%.
Passenger Services and Miscellaneous Income
The division showed significant progress in passenger-related sectors:

Passenger Traffic: 184.15 lakh passengers traveled in FY 2025-26, earning the division ₹2,533 crore in revenue.

Ticket Checking: Income from ticket checking reached ₹216.57 crore, a massive 43% increase over the previous year.

Other Earnings: Advertising, parking, and catering brought in ₹14.56 crore (a 17.28% rise). Parcel services contributed ₹3.51 crore, and Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) added ₹6.61 crore.
Enhanced Passenger Amenities
To improve the travel experience, the division introduced digital lockers for the first time at Tatanagar and Rourkela stations. Other upgrades included:

Installation of three new lifts and two escalators.

Issuance of 1,025 UID cards for passengers with disabilities.
Safety and Infrastructure Development
The division took major strides in operational reliability and safety:

Track Maintenance: Completed full sleeper renewal for 172.5 kilometers of track and 24 layout improvements.

Signal Reliability: Signal failures dropped by 25%.

Modernization: Implemented a Train Management System (TMS) at Jharsuguda to ease congestion and introduced electronic interlocking at six stations.

Rolling Stock: Converted six ICF rakes into safer LHB coaches.

Maintenance: Recorded a record outturn of 13,208 wagons at four ROH depots (a 19% increase).
Robust Financial Management
The division demonstrated excellent fiscal discipline:

Realized ₹138.44 crore through SERAP settlements.

Achieved record savings of ₹295.02 crore.

Ensured 100% utilization of both CAPEX and revenue grants.
With these milestones, Chakradharpur Division has proven its position as one of the most leading and efficient divisions of the Indian Railways.
