Jamshedpur, Nov. 21: The e-marketing team of National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) along with officers of Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs department held a meeting with state food supplies minister Saryu Rai at his residence in Ranchi on Saturday to resolve the anomalies related to supply chain management of public distribution system (PDS) in Jharkhand.
During the meeting, it was decided that NCDEX e-Market Limited (NeML) will support Jharkhand government to purchase food grains at minimum support price (MSP). A computer-based system will be set up for this to help farmers get support price of their food grains. There would be a transparency in the purchase of food grains and the farmers will get the support price within 72 hours of the purchase, Saryu Rai after the meeting.
The minister further informed that NeML will help the state government and will also manage the inventory and bookkeeping of godowns where food grains from FCI godowns will be transferred to state government godowns to make the public distribution system accurate and foolproof. Rai said that the governments� aim is to see that Jharkhand State Food Corporation works on business methods so that it can be run on profit and the godowns capacity can be fully utilized.
Rajesh Prakash Sinha, chief executive officer of NCDEX e-Market Limited, said, �NeML is currently operating in nine states of the country and we have better system and model of e-marketing. Recently NeML has supported the Karnataka government in purchase of pulses. We had talks with Jharkhand government on food grains purchase and management of godowns of state food corporations and will provide support as and when required by the state government.�
It may also be noted that couple of months back the process of reverse bidding for salt purchase in Jharkhand was conducted by NCDEX.
During the meeting, former CEO of NCDEX, R. Ramasheshan, chief secretary, Rajeev Gauba, principal secretary of finance department Amit Khare, agriculture secretary Ravi Ranjan and managing director of Jharkhand State Food Corporation, Baleshwar Singh and others were present.
