Seraikela, Mar 20: A 32-year-old youth Shyam Majhi, a resident of Raghunathpur village was shot dead on Friday night at the same village under Bitarpur panchayat in Kharsawan thana area.
Sources said that the murder might might have been orchestrated by Maoists as police have recovered a Maoist poster from near the house of the deceased youth. However, police is trying to verify the authenticity of the poster.
According to police, Shyam Majhi had come out of his house after 11 pm for relieving himself and unidentified criminals who were waiting outside his house fired three rounds on him which led to his death at the spot itself. There were around four-five criminals. The area is rebel affected and there is apprehension that Shyam Majhi might have been murdered for being a police informer.
Police reached the village in the morning and send the body for post mortem to Seraikela Sadar Hospital and then handed it over for last rites on Saturday evening.
Relatives of the deceased claimed that the criminals had come in traditional attire of tribals. SDPO Seraikela Rakesh Ranjan said that police is investigating into all aspects of the crime and they will arrest the culprits soon.
