Naxal violence in Jharkhand has decreased by 50 pc: CM

Ranchi, June 13: Presiding over the Unified Command Meeting, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the govt. was committed to uproot naxalism and mentioned that because of the determination level of his govt., the naxal violence has decreased up to 50% in Jharkhand.

Naxalites are getting confined in pockets. By the end of the year, naxal problems will be eradicated. He said that on border areas, blocks and police station level coordination among the states is required. Development of villages in border areas will be done earnestly.

He said that criminals are getting organized for money extortion and these should not be connected with the extremists. Under DCs and SPs, these will be formed in naxal affected districts like Unified Command. Camps are being opened to ensure feeling of security in the people and connect the local people with the mainstream of development. Under the attractive surrender policy, big naxalites have surrendered.

He said that under SRE scheme, Rs. 314 cr. is due with the Govt. of India and it should be provided to the state govt. soon. He also insisted on providing a helicopter to the police dept.

CM Das directed to conduct a get together with the bereaved family members of martyr police officers in naxal attacks. He said that the patrons of naxalites should not been spared and dealt strictly. Deployed police personnel should get good facilities.

He said that all sectors related with Unified Command should be conducted every month and sorted out in due timeframe. At the interval of three months, it will be held at CM level. He suggested to start Integrated Development Centers in place of police camps. Development works should be started there along with police security. New camps should be started in the naxalite dominated areas.

It was told that 67 naxal incidents occurred in 2016 in comparison to 180 in 2012. A branch of NIA will be opened soon in Ranchi. NTS has been formed and very soon the state will get 3 new battalions of IRB.

Addl. Sec, Union Home Ministry Jaydeep Govind thanked the state govt. and its team saying that Jharkhand has done a good job to eradicate naxalism. The figures are encouraging and inspiring.

Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma said that the naxalite problems are getting controlled and requested the center not to withdraw the forces.

DGP DK Pandey, Addl. CS Amit Khare, Principal Sec S. K.G. Rahate, Sec to CM Sunil Kr. Barnwal, senior police officers of the state police, CRPF, IB and SSB were present in the meeting.
