Jamshedpur: Natwari Nritya Utsav was organized at Michael John auditorium in Bistupur on Saturday under the aegis of Nrityangan Institute of Performing Arts, Jamshedpur. Various Indian classical dance forms including Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri and Bharatnatyam were presented by renowned performers.
The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the guests. A dance directed by Pundit Sandeep Bose was performed by the dancers of the institute. Thereafter, various other artists performed on the occasion.
Dancer Jugnu Kapadiya gave a solo performance of Bharatnatyam. Sanjay Shaw and Sanghamitra Jana performed Odissi together. Sushmita Kanjilal presented solo Kathak dance. Sudarshana Chakravarty and Namrata Chaterjee presented Manipuri dance together. Rajib ghosh presented solo Kathak performance in the end.
At the conclusion, the artists were felicitated by the organizers. A vote of thanks was proposed by Pundit Sandeep Bose. Bose said the outfit was trying to keep the old classical dance forms alive and spread awareness among the youth of today about their rich cultural legacy.
