Ranchi, April 6: �Time has come for women to prove their efficiency, but remember, all that glitters is not gold,� said Jharkhand Governor Draupdi Murmu while addressing the students of the Schedule Ttribe (ST) girls� hostel, Medninagar on Wednesday.
Giving moral lessons to students, she emphasized on character building. She said �If character is lost everything is lost. She asked the students to take lessons from great Birsa Munda�s life; for the sake of country, he devoted his life. The Governor asked the students to follow lifestyle of great leaders. She emphasized on women empowerment and said that without women empowerment, the country can�t develop.
The Governor further said that despite poverty Jharkhand has so many jewels. She asked the students to recognize their qualities and excel in life. She assured the students that she will try to convince the state government to associate education with sports, arts and culture as well.
Calling upon the students to work for literacy drive, she asked them to teach at least five illiterates and motivate them after completion of their education.
Murmu inspected the ST girl�s hostel also and had an interactive session with students. She also visited school for physically challenged. She instructed the officials to start a drive for welfare of physically challenged.
In a day long visit, Hon. Governor had a review meeting with deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Medninagar.
She asked the DC about the on-going development and welfare schemes and also took status of availability of drinking water, construction of toilets and works related to skill development. Murmu also asked DC about land acquisition status of Neelambar-Pitambar University.
