National Science Day at Karim City College Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In commemoration of National Science Day, the Science Faculty at Karim City College orchestrated a vibrant celebration, hosting a captivating speech competition for students at the college auditorium. The event aimed to ignite the spirit of scientific inquiry among students, with participants delving into the theme – ‘My Favorite Scientist.’

The speech competition, organized with meticulous detail, encompassed two categories: English and Hindi. Sixteen students enthusiastically participated in the English category, while five showcased their oratory skills in Hindi. Each participant meticulously researched and presented on eminent scientists, including luminaries such as Sir CV Raman, Marie Curie, Subramaniam Bhupathi, APJ Abdul Kalam, Jagadish Chandra Bose, Dr. Hargobind Khorana, Thomas Edison, and S. Swaminathan.

Participants not only recounted the biographies of their chosen scientists but also highlighted their remarkable achievements. The overarching sentiment conveyed was that the achievements of these scientists serve as the bedrock for contemporary scientific endeavors, as the journey of science unfolds endlessly.

Dr. Anwar Shahab, Chairman of Political Science, presided as the judge for the competition, lending his expertise to evaluate the presentations. Following careful consideration, Fozia Jannat secured the first prize, and Varun Mandal received the second prize in the English category. In the Hindi category, Shivam Saroj clinched the first prize, with Laxmikant Murmu securing the second prize.

Dr. Tufail Ahmed, the in-charge of the Faculty of Science, inaugurated the program with an insightful address. He welcomed teachers, parents, and students, emphasizing the significance of the day, which commemorates the discovery of the Raman Effect by the illustrious scientist, Sir CV Raman. Dr. Ahmed urged everyone to reflect on the remarkable journey that science has undertaken, from its inception to its present-day accomplishments.

Concluding the event, Principal Dr. Mohammad Reyaz delivered an inspiring address. He underscored the pivotal role science plays in our daily lives, attributing the comforts and facilities we enjoy today to the tireless pursuits of scientific inquiry. Dr. Reyaz encouraged students to advance with science, fostering positive growth in its achievements.
