Jamshedpur, March 5: Every year, March 4 is celebrated nationwide as National Safety Day (NSD). Tata Steel�s utility services company Jusco also observed National Safety Day on Saturday in JUSCO Green.
Vilash N Gaikwad, Chief Corporate Safety, Tata Steel, India & SEA, was invited as the chief guest on the occasion, while Raghunath Pandey, president, Jusco Shramik Union, was the guest of honor.
The safety flag was hoisted by Gaikwad, Pandey and Jusco MD Ashish Mathur. The program was anchored by Santosh Kumar Pandey from Jusco safety department, and the safety oath was administered by Satyaraj Rath, Chief of Safety, Jusco.
The Central SH&E Committee chairman, Ramadhar Rai presented the safety performance of Jusco on the occasion and highlighted the key initiatives of safety, health and environment. He stressed that Jusco would strive to achieve �zero accident� status this year by making safety a differentiator in the company.
Raghunath Pandey advised the gathering not to take short cut and told all employees to play a vital role at each step to achieve �zero accident.�
Gaikwad congratulated Jusco for �zero fatality� in the last 3 years, praised the safety performance and advised the employees to continue with this culture of safety performance. He further stressed that vendors should also be part of the Jusco safety culture.
Mathur said that utmost stress and importance is given to safety of workers in Jusco. �We have adopted �zero tolerance� to safety violations and implemented consequence management for all. Jusco is also implementing Six Step Contract Management Process for selecting vendors.
During the program, a safety skit was performed by the Water Management (O&M) Team and an Instant Safety quiz was conducted by Brajesh Singh. Winners of various competitions like safety slogan, posters, quiz, skit, and inter-departmental housekeeping contest and inter-building energy conservation were rewarded.
