National Lok Adalat in Jamshedpur disposes of over 2 lakh cases

Jamshedpur: A remarkable achievement was marked during the National Lok Adalat organized at the Jamshedpur Civil Court on Saturday, December 14. The event, inaugurated online by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Jhalsa), saw the disposal of 2,16,118 cases, with a revenue collection of Rs. 14,36,43,238.

Justice Prasad, addressing the virtual gathering, emphasized the significance of the National Lok Adalat, which was held nationwide on the same day. He remarked, “National Lok Adalat is a unique initiative that ensures speedy justice, and it has been organized across India today. It plays a key role in resolving cases quickly and efficiently.” The event in Jharkhand was held under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Ranchi).

In Jamshedpur, 13 benches of judicial officers were set up at the Civil Court, with additional two benches at the Ghatsila Sub-Divisional Court. Three vehicle accident and insurance claim cases resulted in a payout of approximately Rs. 15 lakh to the aggrieved parties. The cheques were presented by Principal District Judge Hon. Anil Kumar Mishra and State Bar Council Vice President Rajesh Kumar Shukla.

Principal District Judge Mishra highlighted the benefits of Lok Adalat, saying, “It provides an excellent platform for individuals to access speedy justice. I encourage more people to utilize this opportunity for resolution of their disputes.”

The event was a team effort, with significant contributions from court staff, DLSA panel lawyers, and Public Legal Volunteers (PLVs), who played an essential role in ensuring the smooth execution of the Lok Adalat.
