Carmel Community College Jamshedpur holds Graduation Ceremony, 73 women awarded diplomas

Jamshedpur, December 14: The Graduation Ceremony of Carmel Community College, Jamshedpur, took place on December 14, at Sacred Heart Convent School, Bistupur. A total of 73 students were awarded their diplomas during the event.

The ceremony was graced by Anjana Marandy, Senior Manager of Projects & Partnerships at Dharma Life Foundation; Sr. Sareena A.C., Superior and Manager of Sacred Heart Convent School; Sr. M. Steffi A.C., Principal of Sacred Heart Convent School; and Sr. Angela A.C., In-charge of Carmel Community College. Parents, teachers, and other guests also attended the event.

Carmel Community College offers professional training in courses such as Office Management, Event Management, Fashion Designing, and Tailoring and Embroidery. The Office Management program prepares students for office assistant roles with training in basic computers, accounting, TALLY, communication skills, functional English, life skills, and office management.

Students also undergo internships with reputed organizations such as Sacred Heart Convent School, Triveni Engicons Pvt. Ltd., Apex Hospital, Tanishq Jewellery Showroom, and ASL Motors, among others. Notably, 23 students from the current batch have secured employment at companies like Tanishq Jewellery Showroom, Apex Hospital, Trinetram Eye Hospital, and Amazon.

In the field of fashion designing, three students have successfully launched their own boutique, Muskaan, in Sakchi, which has already garnered attention from the local community.

Sharing her experience, Seema Kalindi, a graduate of the Office Management program, said, “As a fresher, it was difficult to find a job due to my lack of experience. This course, supported by the sisters of Sacred Heart Convent School, helped me acquire skills in computers, TALLY, and communication. Today, I work in the accounts department at Triveni Engicons Pvt. Ltd., and I am now able to support my family financially.”

Since its inception in July 2015, Carmel Community College, run by the Apostolic Carmel Sisters, has aimed to empower underprivileged women through professional training. The one-year diploma courses also include credit programs such as Event Management.

Sr. M. Steffi A.C., Principal of Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur, remarked, “Watching these young women grow in confidence is truly inspiring. I encourage organizations in Jamshedpur to support these courageous women in their journey toward self-reliance. My best wishes to all the graduates.”

The initiative continues to uplift and provide opportunities to women, fostering hope and self-reliance in the community.
