Narrow escape for boy as 11,000 Volt wire falls in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sep 25: A major incident was narrowly averted today on Birsa Road when an aging 11,000 volt electricity wire broke and fell in this densely populated tribal area. Despite the wire falling, the current remained live for a significant time, creating a hazardous situation. An eight-year-old boy, Aniket, riding his bicycle, had a lucky escape when the wire fell. He was thrown off his bike due to the force of the electric blast, and although his bicycle made contact with the wire, he fell away from it, saving his life.

Aniket’s father, Kanhaiya Patwa, promptly alerted BJP leader Vikas Singh about the incident. Upon reaching the scene, Singh learned from local residents that the wire had deteriorated significantly. They reported that numerous written and verbal complaints had been submitted to the electricity department, yet no action had been taken. Instead, the department only performed temporary repairs, leading to the current dangerous situation.

Singh condemned the indifferent attitude of the electricity department, emphasizing the fear this negligence instills in local residents, who risk their lives crossing the road. He insisted that immediate measures be taken to secure the area, including installing a protective net under the high-voltage wires.

Department officials assured Singh that cabling work would commence within 15 days. However, local residents expressed their frustration over the incident, warning that any further negligence regarding safety would not be tolerated, and they would be forced to protest to protect their lives and property. Present at the scene were community members including Surendra Prasad, Kailash Birua, Sameshwar Murmu, and others, all united in their demand for better safety measures.
