Jamshedpur, May 23: Students of Steel City have once again proved their mettle in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), the results of which was declared on Wednesday.
Several students of Narayana IIT Academy, Sakchi have cleared the engineering entrance exam. Neeladri Das, a student of DAV Public School, Bistupur taking coaching at Narayana IIT Academy has scored AIR 13 in the general category and he stands at the first position in the SC category.
Shyam Bhusan, director, Narayana IIT Academy, said, the list of students who have been ranked under 3000 has been out.
He informed that other students who have made it big include, Animesh Rai AIR 17, Shubhkar Kar AIR 33, Samar Pratap Singh AIR 165, Anubhuti Shruti AIR 772, Shubham Kumar AIR 907, Vismita Guha AIR 955, Chetan Agarwal AIR 1284, Anurag Singh AIR 1518 and Audrish Mukherjee AIR 2826.
It may also be noted that ninety nine per cent of candidates passed West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). Students from schools in Kolkata dominated the top ranks. Out of the 105974 candidates who appeared, 105081 were declared successful.
A record number of 36% successful candidates hailed from states other than West Bengal. The exams were conducted on April 22 for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and technology, pharmacy and architecture in universities, government-run colleges and self-financed institutes in the state.
The WBJEEB chairman said that the board will conduct mock counselling at 34 centres between May 28 and June 2 and the actual counselling is likely to start from June 4.
