Nagar Kirtan to be taken out from Telco Gurudwara on Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Prakash Parv on January 6

Jamshedpur: The 358th Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) of the tenth Sikh Guru, Sahib-e-Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, will be celebrated with devotion and joy in Jamshedpur on January 6, 2025. On this occasion, a grand Nagar Kirtan procession will be organized from Telco Gurudwara Sahib.
The decision to commence the Nagar Kirtan from Telco was unanimously taken during a meeting of the Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) on Thursday, amidst chants of “Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal.”
CGPC General Secretary Amarjeet Singh, while conducting the meeting, welcomed all attendees. CGPC President Bhagwan Singh appealed to devotees to wear saffron or blue turbans and scarves as a mark of respect for Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the procession. The CGPC urged all 34 Gurudwara Committees in the Kolhan region to actively participate in the Nagar Kirtan instead of merely being spectators.
Chairman Sardar Shailendra Singh stated that the procession will start at 11:30 AM from Telco Gurudwara Sahib and conclude at 5:00 PM at Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib, following the pre-decided route. The palanquin (Palki Sahib) carrying Guru Maharaj Ji will be grandly adorned and welcomed.
The Nagar Kirtan will pass through prominent locations including Tata Motors Main Gate, Neeldih Roundabout, Tar Company, Tinplate, Golmuri, R.D. Tata Roundabout, and Kalimati Road, before reaching Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib.
All Gurudwaras will host special divans featuring Shabad-Kirtan, and uninterrupted community meals (langar) will be served across the city. The CGPC has requested all Gurudwara Committees to set up decorative gates along the route to welcome the Palki Sahib. The Central Singh Naujawaan Sabha will manage traffic during the Nagar Kirtan.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders and members, including Bhagwan Singh, Sardar Shailendra Singh, Vice Presidents Nishan Singh and Chanchal Singh, General Secretary Amarjeet Singh, Treasurer Gurnam Singh Bedi, and Akali Dal President Sukhdev Singh Khalsa. Representatives from various Gurudwara Committees such as Balwinder Singh, Parvinder Singh Sohal, Kulvinder Singh Pannu, Surjeet Singh, and many others were also present.
The CGPC has called upon the Sikh community to join the celebrations in large numbers, wearing saffron or blue attire, to honor the legacy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
