NABARD GM inaugurates skill development project at Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, February 7:  On Monday, Gautam Kumar Singh, general manager, NABARD, Regional Office, Jharkhand Ranchi inaugurated the training program of sewing operators at Baridih, Jamshedpur under the skill development project funded by NABARD. 
It is to be known that during the year 2021-22 released in coordination with NABARD and Tata Steel Foundation, 135 rural youth and girls of East Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan districts will be trained in sewing operators and hospitality sector and linked to employment opportunities.
General Manager NABARD informed that under the approved skill development project of 2021-22, 75 rural girls will be given vocational training of sewing operator and these trainees will be directly linked with employment in readymade garments exporter company Shahi Exports Pvt. The remaining 60 rural youths will be given training in the hospitality sector and they will get jobs in good hotels-restaurants for related activities.

Siddharth Shankar, district development manager NABARD, Devdoot Mohanty, secretary Tata Steel Foundation, Chandana Suman, assistant manager NABARD etc. were present on this occasion. NABARD GM also took stock of the progress of Aajeevika Entrepreneur Development Project funded by NABARD. Under this project, 90 women of the Patamda block have been trained through the NGO Tiger Society for Rural Development on the activities of spice and pulse production cum processing.

A small processing unit for spices and pulses has also been established under this scheme. Apart from this, NABARD funded OFPO project for handicraft artisans of Sabar and Mahli community at Nimdih of Patmada block was also visited. It is to be known that under this project, the CraftTribe Producer Company of these artisans has been formed. Apart from high quality training, their products are also being sent for marketing to famous fairs, exhibitions in different regions of the country.

 Siddharth Shankar, district development manager, NABARD said that the products being made by these workers are also being sold through online platforms like Amazon. The executive body of the project is NGO Ambalika.
