Ghatshila, August 5: The 61st Foundation Day celebration of Ghatshila College will be celebrated on August 12 followed by the 14th Foundation Day of Kolhan University on August 13. A joint meeting of teachers and staff of the Ghatshila College was convened on Friday, August 5 that was chaired by the Principal, Dr RK Chaudhary to streamline the programmes for the twin Foundation Day celebrations.

The meeting decided that 61 clay lamps to signify Ghatshila College’s 61st Foundation Day celebration will be lit from the main gate to the office and other buildings of the institution. NCC Officer, Maheshwar Pramanik was assigned the responsibility of lighting the earthen lamps on the pathway leading fro Ghatshila College’s main gate to pathways leading to the office and all other buildings on August 12 including the Vigyan Bhawan and Psychology Department building. The lamps would be lit with the help of NCC cadets of the Ghatshila College.

NSS Programme Officer, Prof Indal Paswan was asked to oversee arrangements for lighting lamps in PG Block, Library and Commerce Department with the assistance of NSS volunteers. The meeting decided that celebratory functions would be organized in Room number 24 from 12 noon on the occasion of the 61st Foundation Day of Ghatshila College where the founding teachers and staff would recount their initial days’ experiences layered in memories of that period.

The meeting, chaired by Ghatshila College Principal, Dr RK Chaudhary conducted a brain-storming session to plan programmes in celebration of the 14th Foundation Day of Kolhan University on August 13. According to the consensus, a rally will be organized on the occasion. Dr Ravi Ranjan of the College was appointed Convener of the Kolhan University Foundation Day celebrations while Professors Soma Singh, Archana Surin and Vikash Munda were made members to keep track of various programmes to be organized in the College.

Ghatshila College Principal, Dr RK Chaudhary, while chairing the meeting urged teachers, staff, students, student representatives, former students, local public representatives to cooperate in both the events. He said, “My main goal is to ensure that Ghatshila College gets a pride of place among the top 100 colleges in India.”
