Jamshedpur: The Milanee, oldest socio-cultural club in the city organised Khunti Puja in the club premises on Saturday morning. Khunti Puja is a customary ritual before putting up pandals, to mark the countdown of the festival season. The religious event was attended by all the club members amid the rituals.
In the evening a musical programme was held at the Rabindra Bhawan in Sakchi where legendary singer from Kolkata Haimanti Shukla and a popular play back singer Durnibar Saha mesmerized the audience.
Durnibar Saha is emerging as a play back singer in Bengali Cinema while Haimanti Shukla has been awarded across the world for her contribution towards enriching Bengali Songs.
The event witnessed the participation of large number of people from the Bengali community along with the President of The Milanee Shekhar Dey, vice presidents of the club Animesh Sarkar and Bhaskar Mitra, joint secretary Krishnendu Chatterjee, Treasurer Goutam Guha, general secretary Raju Dutta and others.
