Murder of Himanshu Singh Was Preplanned, SIT Finds

Prime Accused Confesses Weapons Were Hidden in Car Before Attack, Digital Evidence Now Under Forensic Scrutiny

Jamshedpur: The investigation into the sensational murder of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh outside DD Bar in Bistupur has taken a dramatic turn, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) concluding that the crime was not the result of a sudden altercation but a meticulously planned murder conspiracy.

According to police sources, the interrogation of the prime accused, Vishwanath Mandal alias Bodra, has uncovered crucial evidence suggesting that the attack was premeditated and executed with prior preparation. The fresh revelations have shifted the focus of the investigation towards identifying the alleged masterminds and the wider criminal network behind the murder.

Weapons Hidden in Car Before the Attack

During interrogation, Bodra reportedly admitted that he had concealed several deadly weapons, including a sharp-edged chapad (cleaver), inside his vehicle before the incident.

Investigators said the accused subsequently called his associates to the spot, forcibly dragged Himanshu Singh out of a police vehicle and launched a brutal assault. Himanshu succumbed to his injuries, while his associate, Pratyush Anand, sustained serious injuries and continues to undergo treatment.

Police believe the confession strengthens the theory that the murder was executed according to a well-planned strategy rather than being triggered by a spontaneous dispute.

Bar Operator Under Scanner

The role of DD Bar operator Neeraj Singh has also come under intense scrutiny during the investigation.

Police have found that Singh allegedly changed his SIM card immediately after the murder. Investigators consider the move suspicious, especially after statements indicated that when the bar manager attempted to inform Neeraj Singh about the violence, the call was answered by his son.

The police remand of both Neeraj Singh and Vishwanath Mandal alias Bodra will conclude on Monday, after which they will be produced before the court.

Attackers Returned to Crime Scene

Investigators have also discovered that all the arrested accused were well acquainted with one another and had allegedly coordinated the attack.

Adding another startling dimension to the case, police claim that some of the accused returned to the vicinity of the bar on June 28—the day after the murder—to monitor police activity and assess the progress of the investigation.

Officials suspect that influential “white-collar” individuals or an organised criminal network may have played a role in planning the crime.

Bodra Hid in Forest, Used Fake SIM Card

While evading arrest, Bodra allegedly remained hidden in the dense forests of Jilinggoda on the Jamshedpur-Seraikela border.

Police said he took shelter near an illicit liquor distillery and discontinued the use of his original mobile number, instead communicating with associates through a SIM card obtained using another person’s identity.

Investigators believe this was done to avoid electronic surveillance.

Digital Forensics May Reveal Mastermind

The SIT has now intensified its investigation by examining digital evidence, including Call Detail Records (CDRs), mobile tower locations, and social media chat histories linked to the new mobile numbers of Neeraj Singh, Rahul Dubey and other accused.

Police officials are optimistic that forensic analysis of these digital records will help identify the key conspirators, trace absconding accused, and expose the complete network behind one of Jamshedpur’s most high-profile murder cases in recent years.
