Jamshedpur, Dec. 5: The police on Friday have arrested 25-year-old Rabi Hansda on charges of killing 40-year-old widow Sonamati Kui at Jagannathpur in Adityapur under Gamharia police station.
The police have also recovered the knife used by the accused in the crime. The widow is suspected to have been murdered by her paramour for pressing him to marry her. The body of Sonamati was found in a pool of blood near her house at Jagannathpur in Adityapur in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
The widow lived with her three children, eldest of who is 18-year-old Subhas Kui. Officer-in-charge, Gamharia police station, Adikan Mahto said that the widow had an illicit relation with the 25-year-old youth, and wanted him to marry her. However, Rabi was against this marriage.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
