Chaibasa, July 14: Adarsh Municipality Bungalow Middle School at Amlatola in Ward No – 19, has been nominated by the State Government for the National Award in the overall category for Cleanliness. Other schools nominated for the same recognition included Municipal Bangla Middle School and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalay in Noamundi. Adarsh Middle School in Barajamda has been nominated for National Award in the sub-category.
This year, on the instructions of the Department of School Education and Literacy, all the schools in the state were tasked with self-evaluation on the different criteria set by the Department on the basis of which, the schools were selected for the state level awards. The Under Secretary of Literacy Department, Anil Kumar conducted on spot verification of the information provided by the schools.
On the basis of the Under Secretary’s report, the Education Department had decided to present state level awards to eight selected schools in the district. Twenty five star-rated schools in Jharkhand had been nominated by the state government on the basis of internal assessment of the Department of School Education and Literacy, for the National Award and the list had been sent to the central government. Based on the details provided on nominated schools for national awards, a central government team would conduct physical verification based on the data forwarded by the state government.
Asim Kumar Singh, Headmaster of Municipal Bungalow Middle School said that it was a matter of pride for the institution’s family that the school was among the 20 enlisted educational institutions in the entire state nominated for the award. Anita Singh Rana, Chairperson of the school’s managing committee, gave total credit for the recognition to the teachers and students of the school. She said on the school’s selection, “The nomination for the award is because of the girl students due to whose efforts the school has reached this stage today.”
Principal Asim Kumar Singh said that according to the criteria set for cleanliness, cleaning and maintenance of toilets, provision of drinking water, disposal and management of organic and inorganic waste, management and safe disposal of sanitary napkins and rain water harvesting among others were some of the parameters on which the school had successfully met the criteria. He especially thanked the District Administration, Municipal Council of Chaibasa and Education Department with whose cooperation the school had been bestowed with a new identity for cleanliness.
