Jamshedpur : Commencing the second leg of probe into the reasons behind the suicide of the former Chief of Tata Steels Corporate Communications, Charudatta Deshpande, a five-member Thane police team, led by Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP) Prashant Deshpande arrived here on Saturday.

The team, during the five hour long questioning on the first day at the Corporate Communication and Affairs office of the company, primarily enquired about the work atmosphere and inter-personnel relationship during Deshpandes tenure as the chief, on the first day.

They enquired with each of the official working in the corporate office about the office atmosphere and relationship of the respective official with the chief (late Deshpande), said a company source.

It is learnt that the team will continue its investigation on the second day, too. Mostly likely that they will visit again on tomorrow as todays questioning was limited to few hours, said the source.

Charudatta Deshpande committed suicide, about a month after he resigned from the company, on June 28 in his Vasai home under Thane police station in Maharashtra.

In July this year, a six-member team had grilled Tata Steel officials for five days in connection with Deshpandes death and subsequently Prabhat Sharma, Head, Corporate Affairs of Tata Steel, Jamshedpur was booked by Vasai police under section 306 (Abetment of suicide) of the IPC following a complaint by former Forbes India Editor Indrajit Gupta.
Sharma has obtained an anticipatory bail by the local Thane court, in this connection.
