Jamshedpur : A delegation of mukhias ( village heads) under Jamshedpur block met the East Singhbhum senior SP Amol V Homkar and demanded action against officer-in-charge of Bagbera police station, Rajesh Ranjan and a local builder Laddu Mangotia for allegedly assaulting Bagbera’s mukhia Budhram Toppo on Wednesday night.
The senior SP has assured the delegation that he would get the matter investigated by a senior police officer.
Jamshedpur Mukhia Sangh president Paltan Murmu, who led delegation said that a local builder Laddu Mangotia was getting an age-old nallah covered with slags at Jugsalai and Bagbera.
He said that the intension of the builder was to encroach upon the nallah for constructing building, the local mukhia Budhram Toppo supported by local residents opposed the builder’s move. Late in the Wednesday night, the builder’s brother Mintu Mangotia reached at disputed site and abducted one of the protesters Vikash Singh.
Murmu said that getting the information about Vikash’s abduction, Budhram along with 150 others had gone to Mangotia’s house at Jugsalai to get the abducted victim free. “The officer-in-charge of Bagbera, Rajesh Ranjan also came to Mangotia’s house and dealt with the protesters, where there was a commotion between the police and protesters leading to the assault on the mukhia.
In this connection, the police have already registered a counter case with the Jugsalai police station and have started probing into the matter.
Officer-in-charge, Jugsalai confirmed that a complaint of assault on a mukhia has been received at his police station and the matter is under investigation.
