Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Mukesh Kumar Lunayat assumed the role of City SP on Thursday.
Lunayat brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the SP (Rural) in East Singhbhum district police in the preceding six months. During this time, he also shouldered the additional responsibility of City SP.
The handover ceremony took place , with the outgoing SP (Rural) Rishabh Garg officially passing the baton to Lunayat.
The appointment of Lunayat comes at a time when the Jamshedpur police face the challenge of managing the Durga Puja festivities and the ongoing absence of a full-time DSP (Traffic). Despite the city being home to a significant number of two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles, the DSP (CCR) Animesh Gupta, currently holding dual responsibilities, sees the arrival of the new City SP as a positive development for the police force.
