Jamshedpur, July 5: The Department of Physiology at Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) organized a National CME and Workshop on “Diabetic Neuropathy: Autonomic Function Tests as Key to Early Diagnosis.” The event brought together faculty, clinicians, and research scholars from across India for a day of academic interaction and hands-on training.
The workshop featured practical sessions on Autonomic Function Assessment, conducted by Dr. Shival Srivastav, Associate Professor at AIIMS Jodhpur, and Nerve Conduction Testing, led by Dr. Mitesh Sinha, Professor at Birsa Munda Government Medical College, Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.
Renowned experts including Dr. Ashok Jaryal (AIIMS Delhi), Dr. Madhumita Sen (AIMST University, Malaysia), Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thakur (Tata Motors Hospital), and Dr. Srivastav delivered scientific talks. The sessions emphasized a multidimensional approach involving clinical evaluation, standardized tests, and updated protocols for the early detection and management of diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
A unique highlight of the event was “Neuro-Quest: The Autonomic Challenge,” a crossword competition on diabetic neuropathy, which engaged MBBS Phase I students in a fun yet educational activity. The event fostered critical thinking and reinforced learning through interactive participation.
More than 80 participants attended in person from various institutions, with over 300 joining online. The event was graced by the Dean In-Charge of MTMC, Director of Academic Administration, Associate Deans, Heads of Outreach and Physiology Departments, and members of the organizing committee.
