Move to Rename Jugsalai Park After Late Social Worker Jogi Mishra Gains Support

Jamshedpur: A delegation of 31 senior citizens from Jugsalai urged the Jugsalai Nagar Parishad to rename the local municipal park as “Late Jogi Mishra Nagar Parishad Park” in recognition of the late social worker’s contribution to its development and environmental conservation.

The delegation, led by Jugsalai Ratepayers’ Association president Sardar Shailendra Singh, met State Minorities Commission Chairman Hidayatullah Khan and Jugsalai Nagar Parishad President Nausheen Khan and submitted a memorandum seeking the renaming of the park.

The delegation honoured the two leaders with traditional shawls and bouquets before handing over the memorandum. The members said the proposal reflects the sentiments of local residents who wish to commemorate the lifelong contributions of the late Jogi Mishra towards public welfare and community development.

According to the memorandum, late Jogi Mishra played a pivotal role in establishing and developing the Jugsalai Nagar Parishad Park. It stated that he actively participated in laying the foundation of the park, preparing its development plan, and personally contributed physical labour during its construction.

The memorandum further noted that the park stands today on land that was once rocky, uneven, and unsuitable for public use. Through his sustained efforts and commitment, the area was transformed into a lush green public space. His emphasis on tree plantation and environmental protection also inspired many local residents to join the movement for a greener Jugsalai.

Responding to the delegation, Nagar Parishad President Nausheen Khan assured them that the demand would receive positive consideration. “Keeping the sentiments of the citizens in mind, immediate positive action will be taken to rename the park as ‘Late Jogi Mishra Nagar Parishad Park’,” she said.

State Minorities Commission Chairman Hidayatullah Khan also assured the delegation that the sentiments of local residents and the Mishra family would be respected. He said honouring individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society serves as an inspiration for future generations.
