Motherís milk best food for infants: Chhavi Ranjan

Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan inaugurated a one day workshop titled ĎBreastfeeding: Foundation of a healthy lifeí held at Seraikela community centre on Wednesday to mark the World Breastfeeding Week 2018.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said motherís milk is the best nutrition for an infant. In the absence of knowledge, only 38 per cent mothers breastfeed their children within one hour of giving birth. There are only 57 per cent women who breastfeed their children up to the age of six months. Even after giving additional food to the child, mothers should breastfeed them up to the age of two years, said the DC.
The DC appealed to all mothers, anganbari sevikas and sahiyas to create greater mass awareness regarding the importance of breastfeeding.
During todayís programme, the DC and other guests performed the annaprashan or moohjuthi ceremony of six month old children.
