Jamshedpur, Sept 2: The Transport Department of Jharkhand government has allowed plying of public vehicles in the state. But enhanced fares saw many buses running without passengers and so the operators decided to return midway. On Tuesday morning, Om Shivshankar Bus on route Mosabani-Jamshedpur returned from Jadugoda Chowk because of unavailability of passengers. Bus owner Upendra Sharma said that as per the guidelines issued by the Jharkhand government, buses were to carry passengers at 50 percent capacity that resulted in enhancement of fares.
He said that the fates of other bus owners was the same. The fare from Jadugoda to Jamshedpur has been increased to Rs 80 and from Mosabani to Jamshedpur to Rs 120. In view of the increased fare structure people are not willing to undertake bus travel and prefer staying home. Thus bus owners had to make trips without passengers. This is causing us financial loss. If the buses are allowed to ply as per seat capacity then the fares will be automatically reduced and people would once again ride buses, said Upendra Sharma.
