More hospitals to be empanelled under Ayushman Bharat in Jharkhand: CM

Hemant inaugurates new Trauma and Critical Care Unit of Hill View Hospital

Ranchi, Nov 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the scope of Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme for the poor will be increased in the state with more number of hospitals being empanelled.

Hemant Soren while inaugurating the new Trauma and Critical Care Unit of Hill View Hospital, Bariatu Road on Sunday, expressed government resolve to provide  better and state-of-the-art medical facilities as the top priority of the government.

“The government is working to ensure that more number of private hospitals are empanelled for the maximum benefit of the Ayushman Bharat scheme so that more poor people receive benefit of the healthcare insurance scheme. With this, patients will be able to get state-of-the-art medical facilities in their own state.

Significantly, Ayushman Card or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) provides financial protection (Swasthya Suraksha) to 10.74 crore poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational categories of urban workers’ families as per the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data (approx. 50 crore beneficiaries). It will have offer a benefit cover of Rs. 500,000 per family per year (on a family floater basis).

PM-JAY covers medical and hospitalization expenses for almost all secondary care and most of tertiary care procedures. PM-JAY has defined 1,350 medical packages covering surgery, medical and day care treatments including medicines, diagnostics and transport.

Under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat, a Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to reduce the financial burden on poor and vulnerable groups arising out of catastrophic hospital episodes and ensure their access to quality health services was conceived. PM-JAY seeks to accelerate India’s progress towards achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goal – 3.

He also praised the services provided by the hospitals of the state during the Corona period are commendable.


“The Hill View hospital is one of the oldest private hospitals in Ranchi. Patients will benefit from the expansion of health services here. People in Jharkhand ought to get higher medical and well being services, that is the highest precedence of the federal government. The chief minister visited the hospital and saw the medical equipment and facilities available in the hospital’s trauma and critical care unit and got complete information.
