Month long industrial training for diploma students at NML

Jamshedpur, October 12: CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur has been implementing CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative since 2017 with the objective to utilize CSIR knowledgebase and infrastructure for organizing training programs in various categories including industrial, professional and societal for contributing to national skill mission and also promote entrepreneurship through skilling and training.

A month-long training program, ‘Industrial Training for Diploma Students’ has been organized by CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur between October 11 and November 12 under the ‘CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative’ scheme of Government of India. This month-long training will be imparted to diploma students to improve their industry oriented skills and employability. The training is designed to enhance generic and professional skills of the participants and will also address data analysis.

The entire program has been divided into four modules that include in-plant training on Up-cycling of e-waste (Module-I), industrial training on mechanical engineering (Module – II), lectures on data analysis (Module – III) and soft skills and professional skills (Module – IV).

The inaugural session of this training was held on Tuesday, October 12 during which the Head, Engineering Division of CSIR-NML PK Dhawan explained the importance of hands-on training and encouraged the participants to learn through doing. Dr Mita Tarafder, Chief Scientist & Head, Knowledge Resource & Information Technology (KRIT) Division, CSIR-NML gave a brief introduction of CSIR and CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative Programme that offered courses in Corporate, Professional, Industrial, NSDC, Societal and realms.

100 students from Al-Kabir Polytechnic, Adityapur Polytechnic, Baharagora Polytechnic and NSIT, Patna are participating in the training programme.
