Modi first PM to think about development of Palamau-Garhwa: Raghubar

CM reviews preparations for PM�s programme, visits venue

Daltonganj: Chief Minister Raghubar Das Friday said Narendra Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister who has taken the initiative for the development of Palamau and Garhwa. He said the PM had shown an unending dedication for the cause of farmers, women and youths.

Das today reached Palamau to review preparations for the PM�s programme tomorrow. Speaking to scribes at the Daltonganj Circuit House, he said the PM will be laying the foundation stone of six ambitious irrigation projects that would change the future of Palamau and Garhwa region. He said the Mandal Dam would open avenues of prosperity for the farmers.

�After a long wait of 47 years, Palamau and Garhwa will finally undergo transformation for a better future, thanks to our Prime Minister who has kept his promise,� said the CM.

The CM said the state government is proud of its farmers whose hard work has led the agricultural development rate to go up from -4 per cent to +14 per cent. �Acknowledging the contributions of farmers, Jharkhand government sent a group of 50 farmers to Israel for skill training last year. These farmers have returned home with increased confidence. The government plans to increase farmers� income at least four times,� he said.

Das said the construction of the proposed Mandal Dam would help irrigate 19,604 hectare of agricultural land in Palamau. He said the PM would lay the foundation stone of North Koel (Mandal Dam) and Kanhar-Sone pipeline irrigation project among the six projects.

The CM said the government was giving top priority to women empowerment. �We want to ensure economic independence of women through Sakhi Mandal and other schemes. Women farmers will also be sent to Israel for training. In the first phase, 50 women and 50 men will be sent. We will be giving smart phones to 21,000 farmers registered under e-Nam. We plan to give smart phones to 28 lakh farmers,� he said.
