Mob attacks police team, frees wanted criminal

Jehanabad: In another alarming incident of police-targeted violence in Bihar, a police team was attacked by locals while attempting to apprehend a wanted criminal on Fida Hussain Road in Jehanabad city. The incident unfolded after the police successfully apprehended the accused, identified as Shyam Karim, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 and was wanted in multiple cases, including robbery and theft, from Gaya district.

The situation escalated when a crowd of agitated locals confronted the police team, engaging in a physical altercation and successfully freeing the wanted criminal. The incident has added to the concerning trend of growing hostility towards law enforcement in the region.

Following the attack, the police have detained several individuals involved in the assault, and they are currently undergoing interrogation to ascertain the motive and identify additional culprits. Shyam Karim, who had been evading arrest for a year, managed to escape custody during the chaotic confrontation.
