MNPS students learn about Zoonoses

Jamshedpur, July 6: On the occasion of World Zoonoses Day, students of interact club of Motilal Nehru Public School accompanied by the club moderator Mrs. Suchitra Ghosh visited Jusco veterinary hospital and met Dr. Satish and discussed with him about zoonoses.

During the visit the doctor informed about how the diseases are transmitted, it’s various types and methods of curing the diseases. Doctor also gave the students knowledge about major modern diseases as Ebola virus and Salmonellosis which are zoonoses.

Students also saw animals, mainly pet dogs being given saline water on account of their illness. The team got back enriched and will now share their learning with other students of the school.

World Zoonoses Day is observed on July 6 every year to emphasiz and make people aware of diseases by transmission from animals to humans through air, bites, saliva and also teach them to take right action.

Approximately 150 zoonotic diseases are known to exist. Wildlife serves as a reservoir for many diseases common to domestic animals and humans.
