MNPS Jamshedpur celebrates 36th Annual Sports Day with enthusiasm

Jamshedpu:  Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) celebrated its 36th Annual Sports Day on December 7, 2024, with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event, held at the school grounds, was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Col. Vinay Ahuja of the 37 Jharkhand NCC, and the Guest of Honour,  Firoz Khan, Senior Sports Administrator at Tata Steel. The day kicked off with the lighting of the sports torch by National Awardees Vaibhavi Srivastava, Yashasvi Srivastava, Rishank Yadav, S. Sankalp Kumar, Faariz Khan, Ronit Mallick, and Samarjeet Singh, marking the official start of the celebrations. The School Pupil Leader, Palak Srivastav of 12B, administered the sports oath, setting the tone for the spirit of sportsmanship.

The four school houses—Red House (Macaw), Blue House (Kingfisher), Green House (Teal), and Yellow House (Canary)—competed in a variety of sports events, including band displays, track events, march past, and school drills. The performances, themed “Dawn and Dusk” for standard 1 and 2, “Camelite Fiesta” for standards 3, 4, and 5, and “Fusion Frenzy” for standards 6 and 7, captivated the audience with their energy and creativity.

Green House emerged as the overall winner, while Red House was declared the runner-up. Green House also won the coveted Best Marchpast Trophy. Special awards were presented to national-level winners, including Rishank Yadav (10A) and Vaibhavi Srivastava (9B), for their exceptional performances. “It’s an honour to receive this recognition. The competition was tough, but our teamwork and dedication paid off,” said Vaibhavi, expressing her gratitude.

The event was compered by Aniket Das (11A), Joy Chakraborty (11C), Vaishnavi (11A), Unnati (11A), and Kashvi Gupta (10A). The occasion was attended by various dignitaries, including Akhilesh Dubey, Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Dr. D.P. Shukla, Honorary Secretary of UP Sangh, Principal  Sangeeta Singh, Vice-Principals Rakhi Mitra and Bindu Ahuja, as well as parents and coordinators. “This event reflects the true spirit of our school. It’s about fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in every student,” said Principal Sangeeta Singh during her vote of thanks. The event concluded with the enthusiastic participation of 2,255 students from the school.
