Baleshwar: Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for Railways, inaugurated a newly constructed 3-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Baleshwar Railway Station in Odisha. The bridge, which was built at a cost of Rs 3+ Crore, was sanctioned in February 2024 following the Minister’s visit to the station and was completed in December 2024. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent political figures, including Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Hon’ble MP of Balasore, Manas Kumar Dutta, Hon’ble MLA of Balasore, and Gobinda Chandra Das, Hon’ble MLA of Remuna. The newly constructed FOB aims to improve passenger amenities and provide smoother and safer movement within the station. It will make it easier for commuters to change platforms conveniently, enhancing the overall experience for passengers at the station.

The new bridge has a span length of 1×30.55 meters and 1×18.589 meters, connecting Platforms 1, 2, 3, and 4. This initiative is part of the South Eastern Railway’s ongoing efforts to improve passenger infrastructure across its network. With the completion of this footbridge, passengers will benefit from safer and more efficient access to various platforms at Baleshwar Station. Baleshwar is a critical junction on the Howrah-Chennai route, and its development aligns with the broader objectives of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to modernize and transform railway stations across India into world-class facilities. Under this scheme, Baleshwar Station is set to undergo a major transformation with state-of-the-art amenities, supported by an investment of approximately Rs 200 Crore.
