Jamshedpur: Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) on Tuesday organised a panel discussion on ‘relevance of Gandhi’s principles in the 21st century’.
The program was part of the concluding program to mark the Gandhi peace festival held at MNPS over the last fortnight.
The chief panelist was Prof C Bhaskar Rao, a noted exponent of Hindi literature. Other panelists included teachers Naresh Ishar, SK Tripathy and Bonoshree. Student participants were Sushmita Jha, Ankit, Sunny Mishra, Abhishek Tiwary and Ashish.
The school had earlier conducted a skit on the theme of ‘Asatya Par Satya Ki Jeet’, a film show on Gandhi, was addressed by Ritu Sachdeva on Swadeshi, collage and drawing competition for junior school students.
Principal Ashu Tiwary said, Gandhi’s principles of non violence, self sufficiency, communal harmony, and simple living and truth are something that stirred entire India at one point of time.
Prof Rao emphasized on Ahimsa, Satyagraha, Swadeshi, and Sarvodaya. He very effectively drew out the best points in the concluding remarks. At the end the speakers believed that Gandhiji is relevant in today’s time as well. Gandhi’s views on sanitation and decentralisation of power, women empowerment or need for basic education all hold good today.
Students also delivered their thoughts. Secretary of the school managing committee Dr DP Shukla was also present during the programme. Neena Mathur and Ritu sachdeva were the key organisers of the event.
