Jamshedpur, May 25: Swarnarekha Multi-Purpose Project (SMP) administrator Arun Kumar and MLA Sadhucharan Mahto held a meeting to discuss the problems of people displaced from Chandil. The legislator also handed over a petition to the administrator in this regard.
As part of the construction of the Chandil dam, the government acquired 116 villages during 1986-87. However, the displaced villagers are yet to be compensated.
Mahto has demanded that as per 2010-11 calendar, year each displaced family were to receive compensation payments worth Rs 25 lakh each and a government job to one member of each family. However, this did not happen and now the village panchayats will apply for compensation.
Mahto appealed to the displaced families in the camp to apply for compensation afresh. He said that they would continue their fight till the villagers are rehabilitated and compensated fully.
On this occasion, the district police chief Inderjit Mahtha Seraikella, circle officer Archana Mehta, rehabilitation officer, land acquisition officer, BJP leader sBalram Mahato, Ramakrishna Mahato, Madan Singh Sardar Chandra Mahato and Mahendra were present.
