Jamshedpur, Feb 16: On Friday, Jamshedpur witnessed the mixed effects of an industrial strike and rural bandh, as called by the country’s Central Trade Union, Independent Federation, and United Kisan Morcha. The protest, addressing a total of 21 demands, including fair labor distribution, was organized against rising inflation, unemployment, violations of laws, pro-rich policies, relief to capitalists, reduced tax burdens, subsidies and social security cuts, salary reductions, attempts to suppress public rights, and democratic movements.
Rakesheshwar Pandey, Inter State President, informed that various sections of the country are suffering due to the repressive policies of the Central Government. Despite presenting demands on various platforms, the dictatorial government refuses to relent, causing distress among the workers and farmers. He emphasized that the consequences of this would be felt by the Central Government in the future.
Ambuj Thakur, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India, accused the Modi government of exploiting the workers and poor, selling government properties to capitalists at nominal prices, and cheating farmers. He highlighted the injustice to workers through changes in labor laws. Labor leader Vishwajit Roy criticized the central government, stating that it has neglected the country’s poor. The strike aims to protest against inflation, unemployment, subsidy removal for poor farmers, additional GST burdens, corporate benefits, and the relinquishing of rights of senior citizens.
