Local residents, who had arrived at the riverbank for their morning routines, spotted the body floating in the water.

On identifying it as that of Pradeep, they immediately informed the Mango police, who reached the spot and sent the body to MGM Medical College for post-mortem.

News of the recovery plunged Pradeep’s household into deep grief.

As soon as the family reached the site, heart-wrenching scenes unfolded, with relatives breaking down in tears.

They informed former BJP leader Vikas Singh, who arrived promptly, met the bereaved family, and assured them of all possible support.

He promised to ensure a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible.

The family has alleged that Pradeep had left home on Sunday with three companions, who are currently in police custody.

According to them, these three individuals murdered Pradeep and dumped his body in the Subernarekha River to disguise the incident as an accident or suicide.

Police, however, say the case is still under investigation. Officers stated that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and technical evidence.

The incident has created an atmosphere of anger and fear among local residents.

Police added that interrogation of the detained youths is underway, and the full truth behind the incident is expected to emerge soon.

Agitated residents staged a tense protest on the main thoroughfare near Ulidih police station after the body of the missing youth was recovered, bringing traffic to a complete standstill for nearly two hours.

The locals placed the victim’s body on the road and demanded swift action, alleging police negligence and rising criminal activities in the area.

The protest led to long queues of vehicles on Sankosai Road No. 1, disrupting movement and creating chaos until senior officers assured the crowd of a thorough investigation and stricter patrols in the locality.
