Missing Jamshedpur girl found safe after 14 days, couple arrested

Jamshedpur, June 10: In a major breakthrough, Jamshedpur Police successfully traced and rescued a three-year-old girl who had been abducted from Sakchi market and reunited her with her family after 14 days.
A husband-wife duo allegedly involved in the kidnapping has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The child had gone missing on May 26 while accompanying her parents to Sakchi market for Bakrid related shopping.
Following her disappearance, her father lodged an abduction case against unknown persons at Sakchi police station, triggering a massive search operation.
Acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of City DSP Sanjeev Kumar.
Investigators relied on technical evidence, CCTV footage analysis and intelligence inputs to track the suspects.
The breakthrough came when the SIT conducted a raid in the Jhalda area of Purulia district in West Bengal and recovered the child unharmed.
Police also arrested two accused — a husband and wife — whose involvement in the crime was established during interrogation and through supporting evidence.
After completing the required legal formalities, the rescued child was handed over to her family.
Police officials said the swift and coordinated efforts of the SIT, coupled with technology-driven investigation, played a crucial role in solving the sensitive case and ensuring the safe return of the child.
The case had drawn widespread public concern, prompting senior police officials to intensify the investigation following protests and demands from the victim’s family and local residents.
