Miscreants snatch Rs 6 lakh from couple near bank in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 23: Incidents of snatching of valuables has suddenly witnessed a spurt in the city with gangs on prowl. 
The latest being snatching of a bag full of currency of nearly Rs 6 lakh from a couple from near Union Bank under Bistupur thana on Tuesday afternoon. 
According to police, Nirmal Dey and his wife Runa Dey, both residents of Bhatia Basti under Kadma thana, had gone to Bank of India at Bistupur and withdrew Rs 6 lakh from the bank and kept it in a bag and then both walked towards Bank of Baroda in Bistupur and as they reached Union Bank two bike borne miscreants came and snatched the bag and fled away in speed. The couple shouted for help but nobody heeded to their cries of help.  


Runa Dey lodged a complaint at the Bistupur thana and narrated before the Bistupur thana OC Bishnu Rout that the bag not only contained cash but also mobile and other necessary documents. 
Incidentally, Nirmal Dey is a retired Tata Steel employee and his wife was once a teacher at the Baldwin Farm Area School in Kadma and now stays in Bangalore and had returned to city in September and both had gone to withdrew money for some necessary work. 

Police suspects that the gang was keeping a watch on the couple and carefully did a recee before committing the act and might have been tipped off by their partners in Bank of India to keep an eye on the couple.
