Jamshedpur: City-based NGO Yugantar Bharati performed Nadi Pujan (river worship) at Domohani Ghat, Sonari, under the Swarnarekha Mahotsava here on Saturday.
State Food Supply and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Rai was present as the chief guest on the occasion. He led the NGO members and other dignitaries during the unique festival organized annually with the view to prevent river pollution and conserve the environment. Speaking on the occasion, Rai said the event aimed at spreading public awareness and ensuring larger participation of the people in saving the rivers.
Among others present during the programme included Ashok Goel, treasurer of Yugantar Bharati, environmentalist Dinesh Mishra, Ashutosh Rai, Pappu Singh, Raghvendra Pratap Singh and Sunny Singh.
Yugantar Bharati is going to organize a discussion on the topic �Development of a pollution-free Swarnarekha region� at Sri Krishna Sinha Public School, Bistupur, tomorrow.
The event will start at 5 pm. The chief guest of the programme will be Ashish Mathur, Managing Director of JUSCO.
