Ranchi, Dec. 9: StateFood and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Raihas informed the departmental secretary that since the Food Security Act was implemented in Jharkhand in October 2015, it was not feasible to check the safety of all the food grains distributed from the PDS in the state.
As a result, Rai directed his department officials to initiate all possible measurers to ensure safety of the food grains.
The minister has convened a meeting on December 15, where district supply officers, FCI and state food corporation officers will decide the course of action.
The government is committed that there must be no tampering of food grains to be distributed among beneficiaries. Dealers and officers who are found involved in the mess would face direct action of the law and dealers and subordinate officers dont follow the rules will be dealt with severely.
We will appoint new dealers to replace the defaulting ones and initiate probe into the anomalies, Rai added.
He has asked the departmental secretary to make sure all the subordinate officers are present at the December 15 meeting.
