Ranchi, July 12: On Thursday, Minister Banna Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of the Kadru FCI godown, which serves as the storehouse of grains for the poor. His unexpected visit caused a flurry of activity among the officers and employees, who rushed to the FCI godown upon hearing of the Minister’s arrival.

Minister Gupta expressed anger upon seeing the dirt around the grain sacks and reprimanded the responsible personnel. He ordered the weighing of the grain sacks and discovered that many of them contained less grain than the mentioned weight. He sternly declared that those responsible for these discrepancies would not be spared.

As soon as he took charge of the Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs Department, Minister Gupta expressed his ire with the state of affairs. During his visit to the Jharkhand State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (JSF & CSCL) godown in Kadru, Ranchi, no official was initially present. After some time, officials from the Supply Corporation Limited arrived, visibly flustered. Minister Gupta, angered by the numerous flaws he observed, began verifying the stock. He found that the data entry for the past month was incomplete, leading him to reprimand the officials present.

Minister Gupta also issued a stern warning to senior officials over phone, instructing them to improve the working system. He emphasized that the theft of food grains meant for the poor and any negligence would not be tolerated, regardless of who was responsible.

Speaking to journalists, Banna Gupta highlighted that the Congress party had implemented the Food Security Bill to ensure that no one in the country went hungry. He emphasized that the government’s grains should reach the plates of the poor, reflecting the vision of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Minister Gupta reiterated his commitment to this responsibility, stating that irregularities found during the inspection would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

In a prior meeting with senior officials, Minister Gupta had made his intentions clear by stating that grain meant for the people should reach them, and timely distribution of resources as per the plan must be ensured.
