Jamshedpur, May 3: MGM Medical College Hospital is set to implement the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) across all departments by May 10. The move aims to digitize patient services, enhance transparency and improve hospital efficiency.
Superintendent Dr. R.K. Mandhan chaired an important meeting on Friday with department heads to push for swift implementation. Currently, around 40% of operations are running under HIMS, while the rest are handled manually. “Negligence will not be tolerated. The system must be 100% functional by May 10,” said Dr. Mandhan.
HIMS offers integrated features such as patient registration, appointment scheduling, test reporting and medicine inventory. “Doctors will no longer be able to excuse the unavailability of medicines. Everything will be tracked digitally,” the superintendent added.
The system will also help reduce costs and streamline billing processes, improving the overall patient experience. “With this software, data will be stored securely and unauthorized access will be prevented, ensuring patient confidentiality,” said a hospital IT official.
Meanwhile, the temporary cleaning staff of MGM Hospital, working on an outsourced basis for the past 25 years, marked Labor Day with a demand for permanent employment. Ravi Namta, a union leader, said, “Many of our colleagues died in service without any compensation. We have been promised permanent jobs, but no action has been taken.”
Namta warned of a protest if their concerns are not addressed. “We are tired of empty promises. The government must fulfill its commitment,” he stated. Dozens of sanitation workers attended the event, reinforcing their call for job security and recognition of their years of service
