Metro rail is the answer to Ranchiís traffic woes: CM

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that metro rail facility coupled with an effective public transport management system will solve the traffic problems faced by the people of the state Capital.

Das was speaking on the occasion of DPR format presentation of Metro rail at Ranchi. He said that Metro rail was a good and effective alternative. Smooth traffic management is the governmentís priority, he said.

In the first phase, a metro train will be run from CRPF camp through Smart City to Kutchery Chowk. This 16.2 km route will have 17 stations. Rs. 4120 crore will be spent in the first phase. The company will start work from 1st April 2017 and complete it in the next two years.

In the second phase, the Metro route will be extended from Piska More to Namkum and Kantatoli Chowk to Mesra. In the beginning, the frequency of the train will be 6 minutes which will be later changed to 2.30 minutes.

The CM said the metro project must be completed in time. Focusing on its financial aspects, the CM directed to introduce it in the state Cabinet as soon as possible.

The CM further added that three corridors will be made to improve transportation in Ranchi.

Urban Development Minister C. P. Singh, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma, Water Resource Department Principal Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, UDD Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Singh and officers of the company were present in the meeting.
