MD Tata Steel UISL Rituraj Sinha leaves behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and excellence

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel UISL Managing Director Ritu Raj Sinha passed away on Sunday at the age of 58, leaving the city and corporate fraternity in deep shock. Despite his prolonged illness, Sinha continued to serve with exceptional dedication, steering major civic and organisational initiatives until his final days.

Sinha remained committed to his responsibilities, leading several transformative projects. Under his guidance, Tata Steel UISL introduced chip and QR-based garbage collection systems, advanced plastic waste utilisation processes, and improvements in municipal services—initiatives that gave a new direction to urban management in Jamshedpur.

He became the Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL on November 18, 2022, after serving in Tata Steel’s Corporate Services Department. Widely admired for his simple lifestyle, warm personality, and easy communication, Sinha earned deep respect from colleagues who described him as a leader who championed transparency, innovation, and social responsibility. His efforts significantly enhanced service quality, process efficiency, and overall organisational culture.

As news of his passing spread, senior Tata Steel officials, members of the Tata Workers’ Union, and Tata Steel Utilities Union gathered at TMH to pay their respects. Many termed his death an immense loss to both the company and the city’s urban development efforts.
Tata Steel has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Sinha’s demise leaves behind a void that the industry, the city, and his colleagues say will be difficult to fill. His leadership, dedication, and vision will continue to inspire generations.

Sinha joined Tata Steel Limited in 1990 as a Graduate Trainee. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering from BIT, Sindri, in 1990 and joined the organization in the same year. Later, he also completed the Management Program from XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Post completion of his training period at SNTI, he was placed in the Foundries department in 1992, where he worked in various roles. In 2001, he was redesignated as Head Co-ordinator, TOP and was transferred as Executive Officer, MD’s Office in 2002. He was transferred as Chief ASPIRE (Corporate Services & HRM), office of Deputy MD (Corporate Services) in 2003, and later the same year, was transferred as Chief, JUSCO.

In 2004, he was redesignated as Chief (Strategy & Business Development), Corporate Services, and in 2007, he was promoted as General Manager (BD & CS), Corporate Services. In 2014, he was appointed as Chief Corporate Services and was redesignated as Chief Corporate Administration in 2018. In 2022, he was sent on deputation to M/s TSUISL and was appointed as the Managing Director, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Ltd.

City lost a visionary officer: Raghubar

Jamshedpur. Expressing deep sorrow over the passing of Ritu Raj Sinha, former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das said that Rituraj Sinha was always concerned and vigilant about the all-round development of Jamshedpur.

A personable personality, Ritu Raj Sinha always prioritized the city’s development. His untimely passing is a huge loss for Tata Steel and the entire city. He said that Jamshedpur and Tata Steel have lost a visionary officer. Das expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul.

 

Jamshedpur loses an irreplaceable leader: Kale

Jamshedpur, Dec 7:  The sudden demise of JUSCO (Tata Steel UISL) MD Ritu Raj Sinha has left the city stunned. BJP State Spokesperson Amarpreet Singh Kale expressed deep condolences, saying, “Sinha’s vision, sensitivity and administrative skills brought new direction to Jamshedpur’s development.

His dedication to public welfare and modern facilities made him an exemplary leader. His sudden loss is deeply felt.” Kale prayed for the departed soul and strength for the grieving family.

Skilled manager lost: Shailesh Pandey

Jamshedpur: Shailesh Pandey, President of Jharkhand Pradesh Mazdoor Congress, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Tata Steel UISL MD Ritu Raj Sinha. “He was not only a skilled manager but also a city craftsman, constantly striving to make Jamshedpur world-class. His passing leaves an irreplaceable gap,” Pandey said.

His work will always be valued: Nitesh Raj

Jamshedpur: Nitesh Raj remembered Rituraj Raj Sinha as a key contributor to the city’s development. “Jamshedpur will always value his work. His unexpected death has left unions and residents stunned. The loss to the industrial community and the city is immense,” he said, mourning the untimely demise of the senior executive.

Personal loss for INTUC: Bijay Khan

Jamshedpur: INTUC National Secretary Bijay Khan visited Tata Main Hospital and Sinha’s residence to pay respects. “Ritu Raj Sinha’s sudden passing is a personal loss. His leadership and dedication to the city and industry created a lasting impact that will be remembered by all,” Khan said, expressing heartfelt condolences.

TWU leaders mourn death of Ritu Raj Sinha

Jamshedpur, Dec 7: Tata Workers’ Union leaders have expressed deep grief over the untimely death of Ritu Raj Sinha , saying his contribution to Jamshedpur’s development will long be remembered.
General Secretary Satish Singh said, “Ritu Raj Sinha played a major role in the city’s progress, and the entire city will remember his work.”
Assistant Secretary Nitesh Raj added that his sudden passing has left both the union and residents in shock.

Jamshedpur loses a key architect of development: Saryu Roy

Jamshedpur, Dec 7: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has termed the sudden demise of Tata Steel UISL Managing Director Rituraj Sinha as “deeply tragic and heartbreaking.” Roy said, “We had many expectations from him. With his engineering background and managerial skill, he was a key driver of public utility improvements. His absence is a setback for Jamshedpur’s development.”

An irreparable loss: Sanjib Sardar

Jamshedpur, Dec 7: Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar has expressed deep grief over the sudden demise of Tata Steel UISL Managing Director Rituraj Sinha, calling it an irreparable loss for the entire city. “He was a visionary, humble and diligent administrator and many hopes for Jamshedpur’s civic development were linked to him,” Sardar said. He added that Sinha’s leadership and commitment to public welfare were truly inspiring. Sardar prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
