Jamshedpur: Mayor Sudha Gupta and former Minister Banna Gupta conducted a detailed inspection of the Baliguma water tower on Friday, issuing a stern warning to officials regarding delays and poor construction quality. During the visit, the Mayor reviewed the progress of the water supply scheme and expressed serious dissatisfaction with the current state of the project.
Critical Lapses Identified
During the thorough site review, Mayor Gupta identified several major issues hindering the project:
-
Incomplete Pipelines: Significant portions of the pipeline remain unfinished, directly obstructing regular water supply to local residents.
-
Substandard Materials: Inspection teams found dilapidated equipment and rusted materials on-site, raising serious questions about the project’s long-term durability.
-
Departmental Negligence: The Mayor noted that the slow pace of work constitutes “playing with public interest.”
Strict Directives for Immediate Action
Mayor Gupta summoned the concerned departmental officers on the spot and issued the following mandates:
-
Prioritize Completion: Officials must complete all pending pipeline work on a priority basis immediately.
-
Quality Control: Contractors must replace all dilapidated or low-quality materials with high-grade equipment to ensure the scheme’s stability.
-
Daily Monitoring: The Mayor demanded daily progress reports to prevent further irregularities or delays.
-
Strict Accountability: She warned that the administration will take “stringent action” against any officials or agencies found guilty of further laxity or poor workmanship.
Commitment to Baliguma Residents
Local residents met with the visiting leaders to voice their grievances regarding the water crisis. Former Gupta assured the public that the administration would resolve all issues swiftly to ensure a smooth, regular supply of clean drinking water.
She concluded the inspection by emphasizing that access to water is a basic necessity. She instructed officials to accelerate the project to provide immediate relief to the people of Baliguma, ensuring they receive an adequate supply of clean water without further interruptions.
